Physical Therapy Assistant - PTA

About the role

We provide in-home care to former Nuclear Weapons Workers who are suffering from chronic and terminal illnesses as a result of their previous work environment. Our Physical Therapy Assistants conduct weekly in-home visits for our clients, typically lasting 1–2 hours per visit.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy services and education/training to clients in their homes following the physician’s Plan of Care and the specific functions identified in the therapy care plan.
• Complete visits in a timely manner and in accordance with Agency policy.
• Document all services provided, observations, client progress, and recommendations on designated forms and submit to the agency within seven days of providing service or per Agency policy.
• Report changes/concerns or schedule changes to the therapist and/or the nursing supervisor on the day of the observed change.
• Participate in interdisciplinary activities per Agency guidelines.
• Attend client care conferences as needed to provide information to other members of the team.
• Promote referrals to other disciplines as appropriate.
• Attend staff meetings and continuing education programs.
• Participate in the Agency quality improvement activities pertinent to the role of Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Promote personal safety and a safe environment for clients and coworkers.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety and infection control practices by compliance with Agency policies and procedures.
• Recognize and report potentially unsafe situations.
• Demonstrate safe practice in the use of equipment.
• Assess environment and initiate actions to prevent accidents and promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job:
  • Do not discuss client or staff identities, conditions, or circumstances in public or with others who are not professionally involved.
  • Protect written confidential documents in a manner that prevents unauthorized access.
  • Adhere to all Agency policies about client privacy and security of information.
• Perform job in compliance with Agency policies and procedures, Medicare, CHAP, and/or Joint Commission standards and professional and community standards.
• Accept responsibility for personal and professional development; identify learning/developmental needs.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of employment or be qualified to take the physical therapy examination.
• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Minimum of six months experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Demonstrated written, verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Licensed driver with clean driving record and insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements.

Pay

Standard rate: $38.00 hourly (including 100% of hourly wage paid for drive time) plus shift differentials where applicable.
