Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Acute Care

Brief Description

Experience working in beautiful Salida, Colorado. Join a talented team caring for the community in a vibrant, supportive environment. Work weekends (approximately one per month) and take vacation shifts (with plenty of notice).

Scope of Practice

  • Examines patients with impairments, functional limitations, and disability or other health-related conditions.
  • Administers the plan of care provided by the physical therapist.
  • Prevents injury, impairments, functional limitations, and disability through fitness, health, and quality of life promotion.
  • Engages in consultation, education, and research activities.
  • Maintains accurate patient records including physician orders, diagnosis, treatment, progress, attendance, and summaries.
  • Verifies and submits patient charges for services rendered.
  • Supervises aides as necessary according to scope of practice.
  • Involves in discharge planning processes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a physical therapist assistant/Associate degree program accredited by the APTA and recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training required.
  • Current, active Physical Therapy Certification under the Colorado State Board of Physical Therapy or a pending NPTAE examination.
  • CPR Certification.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Able to solicit and evaluate subjective feedback from patients to assess the effectiveness of procedures.
  • Aware of relative value and limitations of equipment used in treatment.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and physical science applied to specialized techniques.
  • Ability to properly position patients with various conditions for different types of treatments.

Qualifications

Must be able to complete a negative drug screen test, pass a criminal background check, reference checks, infection prevention procedures, TB test, Flu Shot, and acknowledge policies.
