Essential Responsibilities
- Carry out treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist in accordance with resident goals and physician orders.
- Absorb residents in performing therapeutic exercises and activities designed to improve functional independence.
- Observe residents during treatment and report any unusual reactions or changes in condition to the Physical Therapist and nursing staff.
- Document treatment provided, resident progress, and responses to therapy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support the overall rehabilitation and wellness of each resident.
- Educate residents, family members, and caregivers on techniques to support continued progress and safety.
- Ensure the therapy gym, equipment, and tools are clean, maintained, and in good working order.
- Follow facility policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current and valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Prior experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or skilled nursing preferred.
- CPR certification (required or must be obtained upon hire).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
- Must be able to safely assist with lifting and transferring residents.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
