Job Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy services to residents under the direct supervision of the physical therapist.
  • Identifies indications for evaluations at appropriate intervals and assists in the evaluation under the direction of the physical therapist.
  • Affirms the target list, short-term goals, long-term goals and treatment plan under the guidance of the physical therapist.
  • Conducts individual treatment as assigned by the physical therapist and outlines in the treatment plan, including but not limited to areas of muscle strength, coordination, mobility, sensory awareness, sitting and standing, transfer training, balance activities, gait training, range of motion activities and modalities.
  • Selects and sequences physical therapy techniques/media, and adapts them according to the resident's performance and consultation with the physical therapist.
  • Maintains patient's response to intervention and consults with the physical therapist if modifications are needed.
  • Establishes and modifies individual patient schedules in collaboration with the physical therapist and other team members.
  • Maintains acceptable patient care ratios as determined by the physical therapist.
  • Provides, recommends, and fabricates adaptive devices or other equipment, trains patient, family, and appropriate staff in their use or application, and participates in patient, family, and staff education.
  • Confers with other team members to coordinate the total rehabilitation program of the patient.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area and adheres to the community's safety standards, as well as complying with all infection control, universal precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
  • Consistently demonstrates sound judgment in the planning, implementation, and follow-up of patient therapy programs.
  • Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, supervisors, patients, family members, and community personnel and administration.
  • Reports to work on time and coordinates schedule for efficient patient treatments.
  • Assists with and participates in Quality Assurance Program as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality standards of the patient, as well as the organization.
  • Projects a positive and professional image at all times.
  • Maintains passwords for the software required for position and keeps all passwords secure.
