Physical Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Aid licensed Physical Therapists in evaluating residents and implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, massage, traction, and therapeutic modalities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, resident responses, and progress.
• Communicate changes in strength, mobility, endurance, coordination, gait, activities of daily living, and equipment needs to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote positive resident outcomes.
• Maintain professional competency through participation in continuing education and training sessions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a two-year Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• One (1) year of clinical Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must meet the qualifications for a Physical Therapist Assistant under the Federal Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies established by CMS.
• Current PTA license in the state of Virginia, if required by state regulations.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
