Responsibilities
- Aid in implementing and modifying treatment plans based on patients' needs and progress.
- Provide hands-on therapy, including exercises, manual therapy, and modalities as directed.
- Collect and document patient data, including progress notes, treatment outcomes, and responses to therapy.
- Report any changes in patients' conditions to the physical therapist.
- Educate patients and their families about therapeutic exercises, equipment use, and strategies for enhancing functional independence.
- Offer guidance on home exercise programs and preventive care.
- Set up and maintain therapeutic equipment and assist patients with the use of therapeutic devices and aids.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care.
- Participate in care team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized care plans.
- Adhere to facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in Oklahoma.
- Experience: Previous experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting preferred but not required.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide compassionate patient care; proficiency in basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move patients, perform physical tasks, and handle equipment as required for therapy sessions.
