Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation - (PT - Rehab)
Start date: as soon as possible. 12-week assignment in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
About the role
Louisiana-licensed Physical Therapist needed for inpatient rehabilitation duties. The patient base is exclusively adult. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with occasional weekends.
This hospital-based inpatient position offers exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses—post-surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex conditions—providing strong professional growth and advanced clinical-skill development in acute and subacute care.
A typical day includes comprehensive evaluations, individualized treatment plans, evidence-based interventions (gait/balance training, transfer training, stair negotiation, therapeutic exercise, patient/caregiver education), and participation in interdisciplinary rounds to support safe discharge planning. Patient ratios allow meaningful one-on-one sessions while maintaining appropriate caseload volume.
Shifts align with daytime hours; some weekend and holiday coverage is required. Daily use of an electronic medical record system ensures streamlined documentation and team communication.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical-therapy evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based interventions: gait/balance training, transfer training, stair negotiation, therapeutic exercise
- Provide patient and caregiver education for safe home and community mobility
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate on discharge recommendations
- Work across medical-surgical, telemetry, orthopedic, and step-down/ICU units as needed
- Document care and communicate via electronic medical record
Requirements
- Active Louisiana Physical Therapist license (Compact accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient-rehabilitation experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- One professional reference covering entire work history
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior inpatient-rehabilitation experience
