Fort Washington Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Physical Therapist for our Acute Care Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

About the role

As a Physical Therapist you will perform initial examinations and evaluations to establish impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care for patients with basic rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient, or inpatient rehabilitation settings. You will flex to any Rehab site as needed.

  • Provide or direct and supervise therapy intervention consistent with examination results, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care, involving the patient/client and appropriate others in planning, implementation, and assessment.
  • Reexamine patients as necessary to evaluate progress or change in status and modify or discontinue the plan of care accordingly.
  • Plan for patient discharge in consultation with appropriate disciplines, considering anticipated goals, expected outcomes, and follow-up or referral needs.
  • Discontinue intervention when the patient is unable to progress toward goals or no longer benefits from therapy, coordinating with the referring provider/team where indicated.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and document all aspects of patient management, including examination results, interventions, response to interventions, and discharge activities with the care team.
  • Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers.
  • Manage your schedule to accommodate fluctuations in census and patient load, informing management of any caseload issues.
  • Attend team meetings and communicate patient status effectively, using medical records or other treating therapists as needed.
  • Responsible for individual professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited physical therapy program.
  • 1-year site-specific experience preferred.
  • Active Maryland Physical Therapy License.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Schedule

  • Per Diem position.
  • 2 weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday), 8 hours per day (16 hours each weekend).
  • 2 days per week, 4 hours per day.
  • Shift: Days.
  • Holiday work required.
  • No on-call duties.

Pay

Flat Per Diem rate: $60/hour.
