About the Role
The Physical Therapist (PT) provides a variety of medical services in Acute, Outpatient, and Inpatient Rehab settings to help individuals who have been injured or physically affected by illness recover or improve function. A PT specializes in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and preventing injuries and health conditions that limit mobility and daily activities across all age groups: infant (birth to 1 year), pediatric (1 to 12 years), adolescence (13-17 years), adult (18-64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above). Physical Therapists restore physical function, promote wellness, and enhance quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate levels of function and disability, then create and implement individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs and personal goals.
- Complete administrative tasks, including documenting billing information and maintaining accurate records of evaluations, diagnoses, treatment progress, and notes as required by state law, the Physical Therapy Practice Act, and hospital policies.
- Develop and implement purposeful goals for assigned patients, reviewing and modifying treatment plans based on patient performance.
- Provide patient and family education/training, including counseling on coping with functional impairments and disabilities.
- Supervise and direct the work activities of support staff, such as assistants, students, and techs.
- Collaborate with physicians and other practitioners to integrate physical therapy into the patient’s overall healthcare plan.
- Maintain current state licensure by fulfilling licensing board and state requirements.
- Comply with federal, state, and local physical therapy regulations, as well as JACHO standards for legal and accreditation compliance.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, regulations, and infection-control policies.
- Preserve the confidentiality of customer and staff health and financial information.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Adapt assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities.
- Utilize assistive devices for lifting and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Complete required vaccinations and maintain compliance with DRH policy, including respirator and fit testing for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet-producing procedures, or caustic chemicals.
- Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit core values consistently.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
- Current Oklahoma state licensure.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR and AED certification (may be obtained within 30 days of hire).
- At least 1 year of related experience preferred.
- For positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
Skills
- Fluency in oral and written English, with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, navigate information technology systems, and utilize Electronic Health Record tools.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt quickly to urgent situations.
- Analytical skills for selecting diagnostic tools, interpreting results, and developing effective treatment plans.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Compassion and sensitivity when working with individuals facing physical challenges.
- Critical thinking for adjusting treatment plans and identifying alternative solutions.
- Attention to detail for maintaining accurate treatment and progress notes.
- Strong listening skills to understand patient concerns and symptoms.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations for tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability, and statistical analysis.
- Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Additional Information
This is a safety-sensitive position as defined by Oklahoma law. Applicants cannot test positive for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in pre-employment or any subsequent drug tests, even with a valid medical marijuana card. Required vaccinations and respirator/fit testing are mandatory per DRH policy, with medical and religious exemptions available upon request.
