Requirements
- B.S., M.S., or D.P.T degree from accredited physical therapy school
- Current licensure in the applicable state
- CPR certification in Basic Life Support, Level C
Responsibilities
- Adhere to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building
- Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Contribute to the overall quality of services and stay informed about changes in policies and procedures
- Provide patient care assessment and treatment, ensuring evaluations and treatments are comprehensive, functional, and according to the Standard of Practice
- Use sound professional judgment in interpreting evaluation results and establishing realistic treatment plans with patient goals
- Recognize and respond to changes in the patient's physiologic state and recommend the next level of care
- Ensure quality patient outcomes and supervise support staff assisting with patient care by providing direction and feedback
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including patient evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, patient/family education, charges, departmental statistics, and ICD-10 codes
- Ensure documentation is legible and patient records are maintained in a systematic order
- Meet department financial and productivity standards, understand budgeted expectations, and adjust schedules to meet patient and department needs
- Participate in process management to optimize quality and efficiency of services by identifying opportunities and suggesting evidence-based best practices
- Promote professional development and education of other healthcare workers, conduct in-service training programs, and share clinical expertise
- Stay informed about changes and developments in the profession locally, at the state level, and nationally
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and external customers in a professional and timely manner
- Provide appropriate patient care in accordance with age and developmental guidelines, demonstrating competence in age-specific knowledge and skills
