About the role
The Physical Therapist (PT) position at the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is dedicated to enhancing the physical therapy needs of students at assigned sites. This role involves assessing, evaluating, and implementing therapeutic interventions that align with educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Complete screenings and evaluations to assess physical therapy needs.
- Develop measurable goals and plan interventions that are educationally relevant.
- Evaluate the physical therapy needs of students and interpret assessment findings.
- Document therapy services, including daily contact notes and evaluations.
- Maintain and submit time records for billing purposes.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other school support staff.
- Serve as a resource to parents, school staff, and administration on disabling conditions.
- Consult schools and districts regarding student and staff needs.
- Assess the need for assistive technology and make recommendations for its use.
- Attend meetings as appropriate, including school team meetings and IEP meetings.
- Facilitate in-service education and training for related service staff and school personnel.
- Maintain routine inspection of therapy equipment, order supplies, and manage inventory.
- Maintain knowledge of school system practice and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree (MA) or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy professional program recognized by APTA, with completed clinical affiliation requirements and passing the National Physical Therapy Examination.
- Two years of experience as a physical therapist, preferably in a school or other pediatric setting.
- Current State of Connecticut License by the Department of Public Health.
