About the role
This position works within the Kern County Department of Public Health Services. Examinations will be conducted to evaluate the applicant's training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process, which may include investigation, oral examination, and/or review of application.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of physical therapy.
- Current license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California.
- Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
- Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
New graduates of schools of Physical Therapy who have filed an application for registration may be employed under the supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist pending qualification in the next State examination.

Additional Information
- Admittance to the examination requires a valid government-issued photograph identification. Applicants unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
- A background check may be conducted for this classification.
- Following an offer of employment, candidates may be required to submit to post-offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
- This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate and future appointments may be made. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for twelve months unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
- This recruitment is eligible for the Employee Referral Award Program.
