Responsibilities
- Affords patient care by assessing, interpreting, planning and implementing physical therapy treatments in the outpatient physical therapy setting.
- Ensures appropriate treatment is performed in an interdisciplinary manner, consulting with physicians and other departments about the impact of PT factors on patient health status.
- Documents findings, treatments, and other patient information in the medical record.
- Complies with clinic policies related to infection control, safety, and regulations.
- Provides patient education on appropriate care and use of various therapies/exercises.
- Serves as an information/education resource for patients, families, and staff.
- Produces timely and accurate records/reports, including completion of all required clinical documentation consistent with professional standards and company policy.
- Utilizes support staff effectively and efficiently, maintaining availability on schedule for new patient evaluations and patients requiring more extensive therapy.
- Delegates responsibility and tasks to support staff accordingly.
- Prepares and contributes to monthly staff meetings, discussing problems, offering suggestions/solutions, and providing strategies for improvements.
- Supervises and evaluates physical therapy students during clinical affiliations under the guidelines established by SOS and the participating college, university, or other educational institution.
- Attends required meetings and in-services and covers outside events/programs as needed.
- Assists and instructs in-services as required.
- Maintains a clean and presentable clinic.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply!
- Current unrestricted New York State Physical Therapy license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience with a wide range of patient age groups and diagnoses.
- Time management and organizational capabilities.
