What You'll Do

  • Assess patients and develop and initiate treatment plans based on evaluation results
  • Review the Physician's referral (Prescription) and the patient's condition and medical records to determine the physical therapy treatment required
  • Provide direct patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines
  • Document findings, progress, and instructions to patients and caregivers
  • Supervise patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians
  • Complete a written plan of care, develop goals based on evaluation findings, and develop a comprehensive program to attain goals
  • Implement physical therapy treatment program and provide essential physical therapy treatments
  • Communicate effectively with patients/caregivers and professional colleagues, including physicians and insurance companies
  • Ensure timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, initial evaluations, discharge summaries, and incident reports

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Physical Therapy program
  • Current Virginia Physical Therapist license, or eligibility to obtain one before employment
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Experience or interest in outpatient orthopedic care, including balance and vestibular rehabilitation
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans in an outpatient setting
  • Comfortable working independently while effectively managing a diverse patient caseload
  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and patient education skills
  • Proficient with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and standard Microsoft Office applications
