About the role

Pillar Care Continuum is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence, and participation in the community. The Early Intervention Physical Therapist provides specialized services to infants and toddlers (birth to three) who have developmental delays or disabilities. The therapist works collaboratively with families and a multidisciplinary team to promote the child's physical development in natural settings, such as the home, childcare, or community environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive developmental and functional assessments to identify the child’s physical therapy needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and family goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) development.
  • Provide direct physical therapy services to address gross motor development, mobility, balance, coordination, and postural control.
  • Educate and coach families on strategies and exercises to support their child’s physical development in daily routines.
  • Monitor and document the child’s progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with other early intervention providers (e.g., occupational therapists, speech therapists, educators) to ensure integrated services.
  • Maintain open, respectful, and supportive communication with families and caregivers.
  • Provide guidance on adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to optimize the child’s participation in daily activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and IFSP updates, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure services align with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C requirements.
  • Stay current with best practices in pediatric physical therapy and early intervention.
  • Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and team meetings.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting and positioning infants and toddlers.
  • Travel to family homes and community settings as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Physical Therapy or Master’s in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active New Jersey licensure as a Physical Therapist.
  • Experience in pediatrics or early intervention is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA Part C and family-centered practices.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in documenting services using electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Pay

$87.00–$90.00 hourly. Pillar Care takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s work experience and qualification as well as the scope of the role, complexity, and external/internal market value when determining salary level.
