About the Role

Responsible for the physical therapy management of patients under the direction of the Director, Manager, and/or Clinical Supervisor. Evaluates patients and interprets examination findings to determine the nature and extent of dysfunction related to medical problems, birth defects, or health-related conditions, aiming to restore movement and functional abilities in daily life.

Performs clinical testing to assess muscle strength, reflexes, sensation, coordination, range of motion, and other sensory-motor skills, while analyzing and treating postural, gait, and activities of daily living (ADL) disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements a plan of care to achieve patient-specific goals based on age, medical history, and dysfunction.
  • Administers or prescribes modalities, physical agents, exercise programs, and patient care programs.
  • Demonstrates professional competence and clinical reasoning in assessing patient conditions throughout all phases of skilled physical therapy.
  • Takes necessary precautions relative to patient age, medical history, and treatment type.
  • Regularly reassesses clinical signs and symptoms to evaluate treatment effectiveness, goal progression, and the need for modifications.
  • Directly implements the treatment program and may delegate portions to appropriate supportive personnel.
  • Coordinates the treatment plan and participates in discharge planning with other healthcare personnel.
  • May participate in patient care rounds, case management conferences, and provide advice/education to patients and families.
  • Discharges patients from physical therapy services when skilled therapy is no longer medically necessary.
  • Upholds organizational policies, procedures, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Follows department guidelines for cleanliness and reports non-functioning equipment per maintenance policies.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation of physical therapy services per State, Federal, and organizational requirements.
  • Completes all mandatory compliance requirements in partnership with management.
  • May be required to cover a diverse patient population based on local medical center needs.
  • May be involved in the clinical competency of PT Assistants and PT Aides.
  • Adequately supervises PT assistants and aides for both patient-related and non-patient-related tasks.
  • Demonstrates internal and external customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited PT training program with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Current California Physical Therapist License or license eligibility letter prior to the first day of employment.
  • American Heart Association-approved BLS certification required prior to the first day of employment.
  • If a CA PT License Applicant (PTLA), the licensing exam must be passed within 120 days of the eligibility letter date.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Pay

Opening pay range: $55 to $60 per hour.

This position is for Rehab Services and is contracted.
