Physical Therapist

Job Duties

• Assess and evaluate the physical therapy needs of inmates using appropriate tests and diagnostic procedures.
• Develop individualized treatment plans aimed at improving, maintaining, or restoring physical functioning, alleviating pain, and preventing physical dysfunction in patients.
• Implement therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic exercise, manual therapy techniques, and education on posture and body mechanics.
• Monitor and document patient progress in response to therapy interventions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
• Collaborate with other medical, psychiatric, and correctional staff to ensure comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of an inmate's health.
• Educate patients on techniques for prevention of injury and methods of achieving a healthier lifestyle within the constraints of the correctional environment.
• Comply with all facility policies and procedures, including safety, security, and confidentiality standards.
• Provide guidance and supervision to physical therapy assistants and aides.

Requirements

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid state license to practice physical therapy.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in physical therapy, with preference given to experience in high-stress environments or with underserved populations.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, correctional staff, and medical professionals.
• Able to handle a full caseload and deliver effective treatment within the structured environment of a correctional facility.
• Knowledge of and experience with diverse therapeutic techniques and interventions.
