About the Role

Encore Parkside is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to assess, develop, and deliver physical therapy programs that facilitate rehabilitation. The role involves identifying patient needs, making referrals to other disciplines, and implementing individualized therapy programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The Physical Therapist educates and trains patients and caregivers in skills essential for promoting independence and productivity while directing activities to maintain health.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services, adherence to the plan of care, department and patient schedules, and timely documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and related meetings.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
  • Consult with rehabilitation team members to select appropriate therapeutic regimens based on patient needs and capabilities.
  • Adapt programs and plans of care to meet individual patient needs.
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce elimination of fire and safety hazards.
  • Order, clean, maintain, and report the need for repair of supplies and equipment.
  • Prioritize patient service, ensuring high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests and measures to establish a diagnosis and plan of care.
  • Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, implement the physical therapy treatment plan, and complete related documentation.
  • Apply therapeutic techniques, including:
    • Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, flexibility exercises, gait training, neuromotor development, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training).
    • Functional training.
    • Manual therapy.
    • Airway clearance techniques.
    • Integumentary repair and protection.
    • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities.
  • Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics, and train patients in their use.
  • Select activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Instruct patients in mobility skills and techniques, evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.
  • Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist (PT) therapy program.
  • Current Delaware state licensure.
  • CPR certified.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Results-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with therapy documentation (NetHealth).
  • Must pass a medical and physical examination based on job qualifications, requirements, and duties.
