Physical Therapist

About the Role

Using a person-centered model within Capability Health & Human Services and a parent educational model in the Early Intervention program, a Physical Therapist will help clients develop or regain physical or mental functioning by implementing programs to improve motor delays, conditions, and other issues. The role includes administrative duties to support program goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develops ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs.
• Completes initial evaluations and re-evaluations for patients; examines conditions, analyzes needs, and determines the need for physical therapy evaluation.
• Selects and administers appropriate assessment tools to evaluate patients.
• Prepares reports and attends multidisciplinary case meetings to review continuing treatment.
• Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and agency policy.
• Adheres to federal and state regulations and policies affecting physical therapy practice.
• Participates in continuing education for professional development to meet Nevada licensure requirements.
• Attends monthly staff meetings and training sessions.
• Interprets evaluation data and writes comprehensive reports reflecting strengths and barriers to client participation.
• Directs program development and guides evidence-based intervention.
• Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Initial certification by the National Board for Physical Therapy required.
• Current Physical Therapy License from the State of Nevada required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children using discipline-specific treatment practices.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures guiding physical therapy practice.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Teams) required.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in an environment with individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in the work environment.

• Regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear, and reach with hands.
• Frequently required to lift arms above and below shoulder level.
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally; assistance may be requested if needed.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Working Conditions

• Up to 80% travel within the service delivery area, including the Las Vegas or Reno areas.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, poor air quality, and wet or humid conditions.
