Physical Therapist Assistant - Surgical Center

Responsibilities

• Working alongside nursing staff to help patients recover after total joint replacement surgery
• Patient & Caregiver Education: Instruct patients and caregivers on prescribed exercises and physician protocols
• Provide guidance along with nursing staff on effective pain management techniques and recovery expectations
• Train patients on the proper use and maintenance of DME including immobilizers, SCD (Sequential Compression Device) pumps, walkers, and gait belts
• Mobility & Gait Training: Provide gait training education to improve the patient’s walking pattern and stability
• Physically assist and supervise patients as they navigate stairs
• Safe Transitions: Demonstrate and assist with safe transfer techniques (e.g., getting out of bed, toileting)
• Provide direct physical assistance during the discharge process, including safely assisting patients into their vehicles

Qualifications

• Affiliate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant
• Valid Physical Therapist Assistant license (or eligibility to obtain)
