About the role

Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team in a unique role that combines Acute/Inpatient Rehabilitation (2 days per week) and Outpatient Rehabilitation (3 days per week). This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population across multiple care settings while collaborating with experienced rehabilitation professionals dedicated to outstanding patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Provide therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance activities, functional mobility training, and patient education.
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate findings to the Physical Therapist.
  • Document treatments and patient responses accurately and timely.
  • Assist with care coordination and discharge planning activities.
  • Promote safe, effective, and patient-centered rehabilitation services.
  • Administer treatment methods and modalities under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, ensuring alignment with current physical therapy practices.
  • Provide patient education on therapeutic exercises, techniques, and self-management strategies that promote recovery and improve function.
  • Ensure treatment approaches are tailored to the patient’s age, developmental level, cultural background, and individual goals.
  • Complete clear, concise, and accurate documentation of patient care, including treatment plans, interventions, progress notes, and discharge recommendations, adhering to organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care, including participation in discharge planning and recommendations for ongoing therapy or supportive services.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to infection control and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current Tennessee PTA license or license eligibility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Previous rehabilitation experience preferred but not required.
  • New graduates encouraged to apply.
