About the role
The role of a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) involves supporting physical therapists by implementing treatment plans that include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as heat or electrical stimulation. They observe and document patient responses, report progress and concerns, and provide instructions to patients and families to promote continued recovery at home. The PTA collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care and assists in evaluating patient needs and progress.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as heat or electrical stimulation
- Observe and document patient responses to interventions
- Report progress and concerns to supervising physical therapists
- Provide instructions to patients and families to promote continued recovery at home
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Assist in evaluating patient needs and progress
Requirements
- Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current state licensure or certification
- Preferred CPR certification
- Maintain current licensure
