About the Role
The physical therapist assistant will work with the evaluating physical therapist to administer a medically prescribed physical therapy program for their assigned patients/clients. They will provide care under the supervision of the physical therapist responsible for a specific patient's/client's care.
Responsibilities
- Provide treatment and services within their license's scope, as required by law and regulation.
- Accountable for the implementation of a written treatment plan and administer treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
- Help train patients and the patient's family in the use of medical equipment and make recommendations for appropriate equipment as necessary.
- Participate in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patients, families, and community.
- Continuously assess patient's status and effects of treatment when warranted.
- Review goals with patient and family as appropriate during plan of care.
Requirements
- Graduate from a physical therapist assistant training program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Associate degree required.
- State of Michigan Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
- American Heart Association BLS or equivalent certification.
