Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

About the role

Clinton Manor Living Center supports each person in living a meaningful and satisfying life through long-term care with skilled nursing for seniors or individuals with high medical needs. Our team of RN’s, LPN’s, and Certified Nurse Assistants care for residents recuperating from surgery, stroke, or illness, and we specialize in assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are expanding our therapy department and seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide skilled interventions under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Implement physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and functional mobility activities
• Assist with resident screenings and collect data on resident response to treatment for the supervising PT’s review
• Educate residents and families on therapeutic exercises, use of assistive devices (walkers, canes, wheelchairs), and techniques to maintain therapy progress at home
• Communicate resident progress, concerns, and changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary team promptly
• Document all therapy services accurately and timely in accordance with facility policy and payer/regulatory requirements
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment and follow established infection control and safety procedures
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in compliance with HIPAA and resident rights standards
• Participate in facility orientation, in-service training, and continuing education required to maintain licensure

Education, Certification & Licensure Requirements

• Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTAs (NPTE-PTA)
• Current, unrestricted state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant
• Continuing education as required by the state licensing board to maintain licensure (commonly around 20 hours per renewal cycle; requirements vary by state)

Experience & Preferred Skills

• Experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, compassionate resident care
• Ability to work under general supervision while exercising sound clinical judgment within scope of practice
