About the role

Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team. The PTA will assist in providing individualized physical therapy services to our residents based on their personalized care plans, working closely with the Physical Therapist and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy treatments to residents according to their care plan.
  • Prepare residents for therapy sessions, ensuring equipment is ready.
  • Assist in transporting residents to and from therapy areas.
  • Teach residents and nursing personnel the correct use of medical devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, and prosthetics.
  • Administer physical therapy in residents' rooms when necessary.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities of daily living (ADL) functions.
  • Assist in administering various physical therapy treatments, such as therapeutic exercise, diathermy, ultrasound, massage, etc.
  • Report and monitor resident responses to therapy and communicate with the Physical Therapist regarding progress.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and resident files.
  • Ensure a positive working relationship with residents' families and the medical team.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as completing forms, reports, and maintaining records.
  • Train and support other physical therapy personnel when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and areas.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state.
  • Strong ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to interpret and follow physical therapy policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to seek out and implement new therapy methods and techniques.
  • Experience in a nursing home setting is preferred.
