The Physical Environment Program Manager is a demonstrated leader with abilities to work independently as well as a strategic thought partner to all levels of enterprise leadership, including executive-level sponsors. This role partners in developing, coordinating, and monitoring completion of activities that ensure a safe, regulatory-compliant physical environment across departmental and divisional systems.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to and implements the mission and vision for the Physical Environment (PE) program via annual charter.
- Leads efforts to meet regulatory preparedness at all times while striving for optimal outcomes with any survey.
- Champions the physical environment program across the enterprise, promoting program visibility and advocating for program goals.
- Uses data to drive improvement.
- Provides mentorship to PE Program team members in project management skill sets, including project documentation, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
- Facilitates the Physical Environment Committee (PEC) and chairs the Enterprise Physical Environment Council (EPEC) meetings.
- Collaborates and supports the Behavioral Health Physical Environment Subcommittee with charter development, improvement goal setting, and event reviews.
- Prepares and/or presents regular program updates to other enterprise-level committees (PSC, AETH, LB) as needed.
- Participates in learning analyses of physical environment safety events with a focus on high-reliability systems.
- Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with enterprise-level teams including NCCS, Regulatory & Accreditation, and Service Departments.
- Collaborates directly with other enterprise-level leaders across a variety of disciplines to meet program needs efficiently and effectively.
- Partners with Data and Analytics team members to ensure rounding data is accessible to enterprise leaders.
- Communicates data and program updates via regular reporting to Enterprise Leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- Master’s Degree (Preferred)
- At least five (5) years of quality improvement, process improvement, and/or project management experience in a complex healthcare system
Skills
- Strong understanding of process improvement and project management
- Ability to document workflows and develop relevant procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
- Strong experience partnering with Service Department and Clinical Leaders
- Ability to lead cross-functional work teams with no direct reporting relationship, including internal employees as well as consultants and contractors
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Knowledge of organizational dynamics, change theory, reliability and safety science, improvement methods and tools, measurement, and statistical process control
- Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to present work to audiences of all sizes
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work
- Change agent demeanor; must be a flexible thinker with an ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment
- Competent in interpreting basic statistical measures (control charts)
Licenses and Certifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) – Preferred
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) – Preferred
Pay
Salary range: $107,200.00 - $142,100.00 annually. Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs; part-time pay will be adjusted accordingly.
As a condition of employment, CHOP employees who work in patient care buildings or have patient-facing responsibilities must receive an annual influenza vaccine.
