Physical Education Teacher (.5 FTE)
School District #6 is located in the famous Rogue River Valley of Southern Oregon, nestled between the Cascade and Siskiyou Mountain ranges. The area abounds with opportunities—natural, theatrical, musical, educational, and athletic. Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $47,810.90 - $90,243.76 depending upon approved accepted experience (2025-2026 pay rate; 2026-2027 rate TBD). Salary will be pro-rated for FTE.
- Service Premium pay after completion of 10 years of employment.

- $50 per month employer match into a tax-sheltered annuity when employee contributes $50 per month (after employee completes three years with the district).
Qualifications
- Possess an Oregon Teaching License with physical education endorsement.
- A willingness to be actively involved in teaming, curriculum integration, and shared decision-making.
Purpose
The Teacher plans and implements an instructional program that fosters learning and growth, creates a supportive learning environment that enables acquisition of skills and knowledge, and guides students toward reaching their academic, social, intellectual, and physical potential.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy, identifying important concepts and their relationships to one another, providing clear explanations, answering questions accurately, providing effective feedback, and developing suitable instructional strategies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of students by being aware of students' varying levels of cognitive development, incorporating cultural knowledge in lesson planning, and remaining cognizant of special needs.
- Sets instructional outcomes by establishing high and rigorous expectations, pursuing outcomes grounded in what students will learn, ensuring outcomes represent various types of knowledge, and ensuring suitability for diverse student groups.
- Demonstrates knowledge of resources by ensuring texts and materials are at varied levels, supplementing with guest speakers and field experiences, facilitating multidisciplinary and online resources, and expanding knowledge through professional training.
- Designs coherent instruction by matching learning activities to instructional outcomes, providing opportunities for higher-level thinking, organizing student groups to maximize learning, and structuring lesson plans with reasonable time allocations.
- Designs student assessments by aligning assessments with learning outcomes, using formative assessments during instruction, and adjusting lesson plans based on assessment data.
- Creates an environment of respect and rapport by ensuring respectful communication, responding effectively to disrespectful behavior, and fostering willing student participation.
- Establishes a culture of learning by communicating the importance of content and conveying high expectations of student effort and achievement.
- Manages classroom procedures by engaging students proactively, transitioning smoothly between activities, establishing efficient routines, and ensuring smooth classroom operations.
- Manages student behavior by establishing and implementing effective standards of conduct, monitoring behavior, and responding to misbehavior.
- Organizes physical space to ensure safety, visibility, and support for instructional goals, including appropriate use of technology.
- Communicates effectively with students by clearly stating learning objectives, inviting participation, modeling processes, and using appropriate vocabulary.
- Promotes student engagement by encouraging higher-order thinking, creating intellectually engaging tasks, and using suitable groupings.

Required Qualifications
- Current TSPC Licensure with endorsement in the assigned subject area.
- Meets Title III requirements, which stipulate that all teachers of English Learners be fluent in both oral and written English, as determined by District assessment(s).
Working Conditions
- Works primarily in a school building, with occasional outdoor supervision of students in variable weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods, speak and hear in loud environments, and respond quickly as needed.
- Work environment may include exposure to unpleasant temperatures, dirt, and communicable diseases.
- Involves high-level interaction with students and families from diverse backgrounds, many with unique needs.
