Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial patient consultations to determine their suitability for laser phototherapy treatment at different healthcare facilities
  • Preparing patients for treatment, including the application of numbing creams and protective eyewear
  • Operating laser equipment to deliver treatment to patients as directed by the dermatologist, while adhering to strict safety protocols
  • Maintaining laser equipment and ensuring it is in good working order
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and treatment logs
  • Providing patient education and counseling regarding laser phototherapy treatment and aftercare
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals at different healthcare facilities to provide optimal patient care

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Healthcare certification as a medical assistant (MA), licensed practical nurse (LPN), or certified nursing assistant (CNA)
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology and procedures
  • Knowledge of laser equipment and its operation is desirable, but not necessary
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with patients and healthcare professionals at different healthcare facilities
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel to different healthcare facilities and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed

Working Conditions

  • This position will require frequent travel to different healthcare facilities to provide laser phototherapy treatment to patients
  • The Laser Phototherapy Technician will be required to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • The technician will also need to adhere to strict safety protocols for laser use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
