Optometric Technician

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assists patients in selecting frames and lenses
• Knowledgeable about optical related products
• Performs patient pretesting including oral history and gathering data using diagnostic instruments
• Repairs, adjusts, and orders eye glass frames
• Teaches new contact lens wearers how to apply, remove, clean, and care for lenses
• Performs tasks involving insurance verification, billing, and coding
• Schedules appointments and scans/fills in charts
• Aids in managing data through reports and graphs related to inventory, volume, and efficiency in the dispensary and patient care area

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year recent experience working in an eye care position or in a healthcare setting involving direct patient care
• Experience with computers and office machines, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, One Note)
• Experience with electronic health record
• Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
• FCP complies with all CDC vaccine and testing recommendations for healthcare professionals

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Para-Optometric Assistant (CPOA)
• American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification upon hire
• Para-optometric designation (CPO) upon hire
