About the role

The City of Greeley seeks a part-time Photo Radar Technician to assist with the operation and deployment of photo radar vans. Hours will not exceed 29 per week, with most shifts scheduled for weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends. There are no benefits included with this position.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the City’s traffic code statues through the operation and monitoring of Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS).
  • Work 29 hours or less per week.
  • This role involves working in the public eye, where interactions may include questions or criticism of the program.
  • Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, patience, and the ability to handle these situations effectively.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record - driving is required.
  • One (1) + year experience working with computers and various technology.
  • Acceptable background information including criminal history.
  • Previous law enforcement experience, including working with prosecutors and court room testimony.
  • Knowledge of photo-radar technology and principles of doppler radar.
  • Knowledge of the Greeley area and geographic layout of the city.

Qualifications

  • Ability to articulate knowledge of state laws and municipal ordinances regarding photo-radar enforcement to encourage compliance while performing daily public relations duties and communicating with community members.
  • Ability to pass and maintain certification to access the Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC).
  • Ability to obtain certification in the operation of Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS) once hired.
  • Familiarity with computers and technology.
  • Ability to be courteous, with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computerized databases.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a secure, professional, and discretionary manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to have high attention to detail and good observation skills.
  • Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and to maintain composure under confrontational circumstances.
  • Ability to make independent decisions using procedures, methods and techniques that are well established with options to be considered well defined; duties are not assigned.
  • Ability to work with interruptions.
  • Ability to work alone and maintain an effective performance level with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand, articulate and apply relevant state laws and municipal ordinance.
  • Willing and able to work weekends.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $24.16 - $29.59 per hour, with a full hiring range of $24.16 - $35.03 per hour. The actual offer extended will be based on your years of relevant experience, education, certifications, and potentially other factors.

Hours will not exceed 29 per week, with most shifts scheduled for weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends.
