Phone Counselor

About the role

Sante’s compassionate and experienced Carroll County Crisis Response Team seeks a Full-Time Phone Counselor to work on-site in Westminster, MD. The role involves serving as the first point of contact for individuals experiencing a crisis, providing support through evaluations, assessments, de-escalation, and crisis planning.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming crisis calls and obtain client information.
• Conduct assessments and dispatch appropriate resources when needed.
• Deescalate clients in crisis over the phone.
• Develop appropriate and realistic crisis plans and complete follow-up tasks.
• Effectively communicate client needs while making internal agency referrals.
• Knowledge and familiarity with community resources, both mental health and non-mental health.
• Complete documentation in an accurate and thorough manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field of study OR five (5) years of experience working on a crisis hotline.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance.
