About the role

The Emergency Management Director oversees the emergency management functions of the Phoenix Fire Department, including disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of emergency management plans and procedures
  • Coordinate with other city departments and agencies to ensure effective emergency response and recovery
  • Manage the department's budget and resources
  • Supervise staff and provide training on emergency management protocols
  • Represent the department at local, state, and national emergency management conferences

Requirements

  • Master's degree in public administration, emergency management, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in emergency management or related field
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage complex projects
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local emergency management regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Current Arizona Firefighter Certification
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience with crisis management and disaster response
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Schedule
