About the role
The Emergency Management Director oversees the emergency management functions of the Phoenix Fire Department, including disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of emergency management plans and procedures
- Coordinate with other city departments and agencies to ensure effective emergency response and recovery
- Manage the department's budget and resources
- Supervise staff and provide training on emergency management protocols
- Represent the department at local, state, and national emergency management conferences
Requirements
- Master's degree in public administration, emergency management, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in emergency management or related field
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage complex projects
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local emergency management regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Current Arizona Firefighter Certification
- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience with crisis management and disaster response
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
