  • Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 PM – 9:30 AM

Pay

$19.80 – $29.70 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
  • Ensure accurate and timely collection of blood specimens according to departmental practices.
  • Assure accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections.
  • Follow proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of phlebotomy by serving as a resource to staff and applying knowledge in daily routines.
  • Improve work skills through self-study and continuing education.
  • Contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
  • Protect self, coworkers, and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases.
  • Exhibit and promote the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals, and standards.
  • Provide age-appropriate specimen collection in accordance with age-specific guidelines for school-age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults, and/or late adults.
  • Maintain inventory and supplies related to job activities and monitor expiration dates.
  • Perform clerical functions including entry of lab orders into the LIS, printing and delivery of reports, filing reports, preparing requisitions, and obtaining or entering information into the laboratory or hospital computer system.
  • Perform specimen processing in accordance with laboratory policies.
  • May perform waived testing.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ASCP, AMT, ASPT, or equivalent certification from an accredited Phlebotomy training program that includes successful completion of a certification exam with passing scores.

Nice to Have

  • Two years of age-appropriate phlebotomy experience preferred.
