Phlebotomist, Winston Campus, 3rd shift, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Full-time, benefits-eligible position at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center – Laboratory, located on the Winston Campus.

Schedule

• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Pay

$18.85 – $28.30 per hour

Responsibilities

• Assures accurate and timely collection of blood specimens according to departmental practices.
• Assures accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections.
• Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
• Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education.
• Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
• Protects self, coworkers, and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases.
• Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals, and standards of laboratory testing.
• Provides age-appropriate specimen collection in accordance with age-specific guidelines for school-age children, adolescents, early adults, middle adults, and/or late adults.
• Adheres to the general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
• Collects blood specimens for the clinical laboratories and functions as an intermediary between the patient, patient caregivers, and the laboratories.
• Assures proper specimen collection and identification in compliance with section policies and procedures.
• Performs appropriate patient procedures in accordance with age-specific guidelines for the age groups served.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice to Have

• One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
