Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process
- Responsible for correct blood collection, drawing blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques, ensuring proper identification and labeling of specimens
- Organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensuring all specimens are properly processed and stored
- Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test results
- Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order, and properly sanitized
- Perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician to join our healthcare team. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be responsible for drawing blood samples and ensuring their quality for laboratory testing. Your role is crucial in assisting physicians with accurate diagnostics and patient care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
- Current BCLS (AHA) certificate preferred
- Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred
