Phlebotomy Tech I

Department: Clinical Lab • Full-time night shift (5:00 PM – 5:30 AM) • Every other weekend and holiday required

About the role

Phlebotomy Technician I responsible for drawing blood, handling specimens, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with other departments to ensure effective patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
• Perform correct blood collection using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensure proper identification and labeling of specimens.
• Organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing; ensure all specimens are properly processed and stored.
• Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain specimen integrity and ensure accurate test results.
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies; ensure everything is in working order and properly sanitized.
• Perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current (required).
• Minimum of two years of clinical laboratory experience (preferred).
