About the role

We are looking for an on-call weekend phlebotomist to support our phlebotomy needs for patients at our Banner Hospital in Torrington. This position provides critical diagnostic care for patients on weekends to ensure timely diagnosis for ongoing care.

This position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center (PSC), In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP), or Mobile Diagnostic Services (MDS) and may require coverage at multiple locations. Responsibilities include the collection and receipt of biological specimens, proper entry into the company’s computer system, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and distribution of specimens to the appropriate analytical area. This role also covers pre- and post-analytical testing aspects and may perform specified analytical testing as assigned.

Responsibilities

Collect and receive biological specimens.
Enter specimen data into the company’s computer system.
Prepare samples for analytical testing.
Distribute specimens to the proper analytical area.
Perform pre- and post-analytical testing tasks.
Conduct specified analytical testing as assigned.
Adhere to the Code of Conduct, established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, as well as professional standards.

Requirements

Minimum age requirement of 18.
High School diploma or equivalent (may be required dependent on state regulations).
Basic knowledge of department resource materials.
Completion of a phlebotomy program or phlebotomy experience.
Phlebotomy certification as defined by state regulations.
Position may require DHS Fingerprinting Certification or the ability to obtain it.
For float positions: Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, with minimal notice. Must be available based on staffing requirements.
May be required to work occasional on-call duties, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
Progression through career ladder II-IV is subject to completion of career ladder requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual (Spanish/English).
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Additional related education and/or experience.

Schedule

On-call weekend position.
Flexible hours required, including weekends, holidays, and potential overtime.
May require occasional on-call duties during weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
