About the role
This position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center (PSC), In Office Phlebotomy (IOP) or Mobile Diagnostic Services (MDS). The role is responsible for the collection and receipt of biological specimens, their proper entry into the company’s computer system, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and/or distribution of specimens to the proper analytical area. This includes responsibility for pre- and post-aspects of analytical testing. The position may also perform specified analytical testing as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Collect biological specimens from patients in skilled facilities and concierge services.
- Enter specimen data into the company’s computer system.
- Prepare samples for analytical testing.
- Distribute specimens to appropriate analytical areas.
- Perform pre- and post-analytical testing tasks.
- Conduct specified analytical testing as assigned.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Provide coverage at multiple locations as needed (float positions require travel and flexible hours).
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18.
- High School diploma or equivalent (may be required dependent on state regulations).
- Basic knowledge of department resource materials.
- Completion of a phlebotomy program or equivalent phlebotomy experience.
- Phlebotomy certification as defined by state regulations.
- Position may require DHS Fingerprinting Certification or ability to obtain it.
- For mobile or float positions: valid state driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and occasional on-call duties (evenings, early mornings).
- Ability to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
