Phlebotomist Technician

About the role

As a Phlebotomist Technician at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, you will be an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. You will help put patients at ease while obtaining required specimens, enhancing their care experience. You will also have access to Cleveland Clinic’s educational and professional development resources, including online courses and in-person trainings.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures and follow venipuncture procedures while maintaining appropriate log sheets.
• Verify order requests and identifying information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
• Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment

Qualifications

• Formal Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
• Previous phlebotomy experience (preferred)
• Graduate of a preferred phlebotomy school (preferred)

Physical Requirements

• Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
• Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $20.80
Maximum hourly: $20.80
