Position Summary
Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens for laboratory testing. Labels specimen containers accurately, delivers to proper destinations in a timely manner, and performs order entry duties as required. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, and treatment needs of patients ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
- Accredited Phlebotomy Program
- Experience: Draws an average of 7 patients per hour within the first 90 days of employment
- Proficient in using Laboratory Information System within the first 90 days of employment
- Licenses/Registrations/Certifications: ASCP eligible, BLS

Core Job Responsibilities
- Procurement and distribution of specimens (blood, urine, etc.)
- Computer data entry and operation of computer equipment
- Answering incoming calls for the laboratory
- Maintaining phlebotomy supply inventory and rotating supplies as needed
- Performing breath alcohol and urine drug screen collections
- Performing SLED collections
- Responding to all traumas, code strokes, and codes sepsis in the ED
- Responding to all medical alerts and emergencies for inpatient floors
- Performing other duties as assigned

- Monitor phlebotomy supply inventory and rotate supplies as needed

- Respond to ALL medical alerts and emergencies for inpatient floors
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds may be required
- Position includes moderate chemical exposure

- Sensitive touch for locating veins
- Manual dexterity and coordination required for drawing blood
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information
