About the role

The Laboratory Assistant receives and processes specimens and carries out basic laboratory procedures. Additionally, there are required clerical tasks such as greeting patients, informing them of the procedures, answering phones and emails, and maintaining records. We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU. Responsibilities

• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Prepare specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
• Process all necessary paperwork for submitted specimens.
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

• Phlebotomy certification by ASCP and/or NCA highly desired.
• Six months phlebotomy experience preferred; phlebotomy experience in hospital laboratory.

Schedule

PRN weekend night shift, must have availability for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights between 6pm and 6am, shared holidays.
