Phlebotomist -Part Time E/O Weekend

Description

St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Phlebotomist to join their team. The position is part-time, working every other weekend night.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood samples from inpatients in a timely manner and delivers them to the lab for testing.
• Works with computers and centrifuge, as well as instrument lines for processing blood samples.
• Requires an experienced, highly-skilled technician capable of minimal supervision.
• Responsible, reliable, dedicated, and focused on prompt and efficient patient care.
• Verbal confirms and positively identifies outpatients using the positive patient identification system.
• Labels patients' specimens for Blood Bank testing using the positive patient identification system.
• Performs venipunctures and/or skin punctures with proper aseptic technique.
• Clears and accurately labels specimens immediately after venipuncture and documents necessary information.
• Evaluates specimen adequacy and monitors inventory levels.
• Orders supplies, deletes or cancels orders as necessary, and maintains supplies, carts, and workstations in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
• Delivers specimens to appropriate departments and operates pneumatic tubes.
• Demonstrates proper telephone etiquette and responds to calls, answers questions, directs inquiries, and takes messages.
• Adapts work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs and maintains supplies, carts, workstations in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
• Maintains supplies, carts, workstations in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
• Collects TIMED and STAT tests within designated time periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/Equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Certification or equivalent training required.
