Phlebotomist - Laboratory Assistant I

About the role
The Lab Assistant I provides general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens.
Schedule
- Part-time, day shift (8-hour shifts within the hours of 6:30 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday)
Location
Downtown Indianapolis (floating between Methodist Hospital, Riley Hospital, University Hospital, and Dunlap facility)
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science preferred
- Valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years may be required
- Understanding of traffic laws in the State of Indiana may be required
- Working knowledge of computers
- Telephone skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
