Phlebotomist - Inpatient - On Call

On-call position with swing and night shifts. Open availability is required. The selected candidate will work full-time for the first 4-6 weeks for training on all shifts.

Schedule

Possible shifts for inpatient phlebotomy positions:

• 1st Shift: 3:00am to 1:30pm
• 2nd Shift: 1:00pm to 11:30pm
• 3rd Shift: 9:00pm to 7:30am

Full-time employees typically work four 10-hour shifts, with flexibility in days of the week, including every other or every third weekend.

Shift differentials:

• $1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• $2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
• $1.10 extra for working weekends

Pay

Salary range: $19.90 - $27.37 per hour.

About the Role

The Phlebotomist will inspire confidence in the overall patient and staff experience by utilizing proper prioritization procedures and coordinating the collection of all phlebotomy specimens with co-workers. Responsibilities include:

• Performing 10 to 12 draws an hour after initial training.
• Working in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Nursery as needed.
• Working directly with patients and continually improving the patient experience.
• Identifying opportunities to optimize workflow.
• Utilizing proper prioritization procedures by coordinating specimen collection with co-workers.
• Demonstrating productivity in patient care by consistently applying phlebotomy skills with accuracy to a diverse patient population.
• Adhering to patient identification protocols and regulatory requirements to minimize redraws (e.g., proper amounts, correct samples).
• Demonstrating knowledge of all patient safety precautions, such as isolations and safety devices.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate.
• Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience or equivalent experience in a healthcare-related field. This requirement may be waived after successful completion of a Certified Phlebotomy Education program approved by Asante Laboratory Leadership.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to frequently and repetitively lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items up to 50 pounds as a regular and vital part of the job.
