About the role
As a One Medical Phlebotomist/Front Desk (internally known as Patient Care Specialist), you’ll provide an exceptional experience for patients by performing venipuncture and other clinical support services. You will act as an ambassador, removing barriers to care and ensuring a seamless in-office experience. You’ll be the first point of contact for patients, manage front-desk duties, and maintain the office’s brand-aligned environment. You’ll collaborate with the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, and providers to support daily operations and tackle challenges with innovative problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Use C-I-CARE (a communication framework) in all patient interactions, ensuring a fluid and positive in-office experience through intake, scheduling, billing, insurance knowledge, and patient feedback management.
- Provide best-in-class venipuncture services for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Perform extended scope duties, including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
- Maintain high standards of care through proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
- Assist with patient messages, lab follow-ups, and clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record reviews, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
- Handle front-of-house duties, including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, paperwork, test preparation, and task management.
- Contribute to team development through rounding, huddles, problem-solving, and supporting providers with ad-hoc tasks.
- Perform opening/closing duties, daily office upkeep, and maintain patient and employee-facing spaces.
- Master technology tools such as Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and the Electronic Medical Record System.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
- Strong customer service skills, including building and maintaining effective customer relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in computer technology, including multitasking across software systems.
- Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (remote team experience a plus).
- Ability to display confidence and instill trust during specimen collection while delivering human-centered care.
- Proven track record of adapting to change, taking initiative, and learning quickly.
Pay
Competitive salary: $22.75 - $24.75 per hour based on a full-time schedule. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as skill sets, experience, and work location.
Schedule
This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) with 8-hour shifts generally taking place Monday - Friday between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, based in the Reston Town Center office in Reston, VA.
