Phlebotomist - Floater

About the role

The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the face of our company to patients, whether they visit as part of their health routine or for life-defining health decisions. The PSR III draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. With direct patient contact, the PSR III creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The role demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.

Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Verify patient demographic information, including patient signature post-venipuncture, to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
• Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Requirements

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Commitment to all Policies & Procedures, including Company dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
• Travel and flexible hours required to work at multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers and In-Office Phlebotomy locations, with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrate superior customer focus, open and transparent communication with peers, supervisors, and patients, and the ability to embrace change.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Three years of phlebotomy experience, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (required).
• Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred).
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred).
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

Schedule

Varied 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, between 6:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
