Phlebotomist - Floater

About the Role

The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the company to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens skillfully, safely, and accurately. This role involves direct patient contact and requires demonstrating leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate. The PSR III performs daily activities under the direction of the area supervisor, maintains a safe and professional environment, and handles both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing.

Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
• Verify patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
• Perform duties accurately and on time in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
• Handle multiple priorities and make decisions based on established procedures.
• Travel and work flexible hours to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable).

• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Superior customer focus and ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients.
• Ability to accelerate and embrace change while maintaining knowledge of business operations.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Schedule

Floater position requiring travel between multiple sites. Hours vary (DAY shift, typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, CST/EST time zones). Must be punctual at assigned sites and available to cover locations with minimal notice.
