About the role

The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the company to patients, drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing while following established practices. This role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.

The Phlebotomist III- Float provides coverage at multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy settings. They ensure daily activities are completed accurately and on time, demonstrating leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.

Successful applicants may work in a doctor's office, patient service center, house call environment, long-term care, or other settings as business needs dictate. Responsibilities include leading one or more Patient Service Representatives (PSRs), acting as a coach, mentor, and instructor for new employees, and providing onboarding services to new clients. This role also serves as a point of contact for staff and provides input to supervisors.

The Phlebotomist III- Float may work with high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills and customer-facing abilities, including verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Prepare specimens for lab testing while adhering to established practices and procedures.
• Provide coverage at multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy.
• Ensure daily activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Lead and mentor new employees, acting as a coach, instructor, and resource advisor.
• Provide onboarding services to new clients and serve as a point of contact for staff on-site.
• Collaborate with multiple functions, such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics, for complex test orders.
• Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum of 3 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.
