About the role

The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the company to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.

Under the direction of the area supervisor, the PSR III performs daily activities accurately and maintains a safe, professional environment. The role involves both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing, verification of patient demographic information, and maintaining required records and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort and confidence during blood collection.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic information, including confirming patient signatures post-venipuncture to ensure tubes are labeled correctly in their presence.
  • Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
  • Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting while maintaining a professional and safe environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (required).
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred).
  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • Medical training, such as medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Travel and flexible hours required to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred).
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (hours may vary). Flexibility is required to cover multiple locations with minimal notice, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
