Phlebotomist - Family Medicine & Pediatrics at Winchester Square

Responsibilities

• Orders and transmits lab orders in the computer system.
• Assists in care of patient prior to, during, and after phlebotomy.
• Communicates with patients of all ages in a manner which promotes a comfortable and professional atmosphere.
• Before performing blood draws, verifies patient name and date of birth.
• Corrects any diagnosis errors that flag in the system.
• Performs blood draws. Places patient name and date of birth on tube(s) in front of patient.
• Has knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for collection.
• Processes blood and urine specimens.
• Stocks inventory and maintains a clean work area.
• Disposes biohazard material in the correct container.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Attends required meetings and participates as requested.
• All other assigned duties.

Requirements

• HS diploma or GED
• Phlebotomy certificate
• Strong phlebotomy and customer service skills
• Previous experience in lab or clinical setting preferred
